Operational Agility in 60 Days? Here’s How Go M.A.D. Makes it Possible

“We don’t have time for another long-term transformation plan. We need results - now.”

That was the brief from an Operations Director under pressure to cut costs, speed up delivery, and improve customer experience – all within a single quarter.

It’s the kind of challenge that can either spark innovation or send teams into panic mode. In this case, we helped them do the former – by applying the Go M.A.D.® Results Framework to fast-track thinking, alignment, and action.

Within 60 days, they’d restructured workflows, empowered local decision-making, and freed up capacity – without burning out the team or compromising quality.

Here’s how.

Why Most Organisations Struggle to Move Fast

1. People confuse activity with agility

Teams were busy – but the wrong things were being prioritised. Every request felt urgent. Decision-making was reactive.

Solution: We refocused everyone using this core Go M.A.D. question:

“What specific result do we want to achieve – and how will we measure progress in the next 60 days?”

Suddenly, activity had a clear purpose. Agility followed.

2. Bottlenecks were being tolerated, not tackled

Old processes were slowing things down – but no one had paused to question them. Workarounds had become the norm.

Solution: We applied Possibility Thinking to ask:

“What might we possibly stop, simplify, or streamline?”
Empowered by this lens, teams reimagined workflows and removed unnecessary steps.

3. Decisions were being escalated unnecessarily

Even small decisions had to pass through multiple layers. The result? Delays, frustration, and disengagement.

Solution: We introduced the Involving Others Principle from the Go M.A.D.® Framework:

“Who else could possibly take ownership for this – and what do they possibly need to act confidently?”
With clarity on roles and trust to act, teams moved faster and felt more empowered.

4. Energy was being drained by lack of visible progress

Despite working hard, people couldn’t see the difference they were making. That led to fatigue.

Solution: We introduced a 30-day review with a focus on small wins. Every team shared:

  • What result they progressed
  • What they learned
  • What they’d improve next

This boosted morale and built momentum.

3 Ways to Accelerate Agility in Your Operations Team

1. Use the Go M.A.D.® Results Framework to focus thinking.
Ask each team to clarify:

What specific result do we want to achieve?

Why does this matter – to customers, colleagues, or the organisation?

What focused actions will we take next?

This creates alignment and sharpens decision-making—fast.

2. Bring possibility-based thinking into your stand-ups In daily or weekly ops huddles, ask:

“What could we possibly do to move this forward more effectively?”
This question opens up options, encourages ownership, and disrupts habitual thinking.

3. Make time to think

Busy operations teams often run on autopilot. But agility depends on being intentional. Schedule a 30-minute team reflection:

Final Thought

Operational agility isn’t about moving faster. It’s about thinking better.

With the Go M.A.D.® Results Framework, teams stop reacting and start responding—with clarity, purpose, and measurable results.
